Stokes Hill Wharf

Should you be lucky enough to visit Darwin, be sure not to miss Stokes Hill Wharf.  Built in the 1800's the wharf was severely damaged in a Japanese attack in 1942, and then again by cyclone Tracy in 1974.

Today Stokes Hill Wharf is a working wharf  and a delightful place to spend an afternoon.  In the evening it's magic.  We visited the wharf one afternoon and came back several days later to enjoy a dinner and evening there.  There are various shops and food vendors along the wharf, but I'd suggest the best spot is at the very end where you'll find Crustaceans restaurant.

As we ate our seafood platter (yum!) and drank a glass or two of wine, we watched the boats go by and were treated to a beautiful sunset and wonderfully cooling sea breezes.  It was a beautiful way to end a sultry day.  This is one spot we'll definitely be returning to before we leave Darwin!
